Have you ever wondered where the artesian water at the Buick Street fountain comes from? Learn about the aquifer that supplies the fountains at Buick Street and Dowse Square, as well as 40% of the annual water supply for the region. Vanessa Trompetter, Principal Technician in the Water Dating Lab at GNS Science will give a talk about the aquifer and bores, followed by a visit to the Buick Street fountain.

Health & Safety

The walk to the Buick Street Fountain following the talk is optional, and involves crossing a busy road and a short walk.

Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.

Petone Settlers Museum

Petone Settlers Museum is a local history museum located in the Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial, a historic building in Petone, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The building was originally constructed to mark the Wellington province's centennial commemorations; the museum opened in the building in 1977.
