Silver Stream Railway Open Day

See and ride a vintage train on the Silver Stream Railway Open Day 11am-4pm Monday 22 October.

Silver Stream Railway (named after the silver coloured stream {Hull’s Creek} that runs beside the railway) is a heritage railway near the suburb of Silverstream in the Hutt Valley 30km from Wellington, New Zealand. It regularly operates former New Zealand Goverment Railway and ex industrial steam and diesel locomotives along a restored section of the Wellington to Upper Hutt railway that was bypassed in 1954.

Trains operate over a 1.5km section of restored track that was originally part of the Wellington to Upper Hutt main line. Return trips take approx.15 minutes return and run on demand through out the day. Picnic facilities are avalible at our station and there is a shop where refresments including drinks and ice creams along with a range of souvenirs can be purchased.

Cost: Adult: $14; Children 14 and under: $8; Children under 5: $4; Children under 2: Free; Families (2 adults and 2 children): $40

Tickets enable visitors to ride on our trains as many times as you like.
