Join us at our tranquil Island Bay site, for a night exploring the history of the Island Bay reservoir.

Explore our exhibition and watch a musical performance inspired by our unique taonga hidden in the Manawa Karioi reserve, originally built to service the hospital.

Sisters of Compassion

Originally founded by Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert, the Sisters of Compassion are a religious order who set up numerous charitable sites, including the still functioning Compassion Soup Kitchen on Tory Street. They have several heritage sites across Aotearoa including Hiruhārama/Jerusalem in Whanganui, and Our Lady's Home of Compassion in Island Bay.
