Experience the world of urban sketching, heritage crafts and learn from local artists in beautiful surroundings. This coupled with the magic of heritage crafts and vintage fair will be a day to remember.
This year we are again excited about what is on offer to celebrate Wellington Heritage festival. From 10am, both St Christopher’s and the Village Hall in Seatoun will be a hive of activity. Wander through St Christopher’s Church, designed by William Fielding in the Romanesque Revival style and built in 1932. Marvel at the unique stained glass windows and the original features. At 11am we are thrilled to have local artist and author Anne Taylor share her love of drawing and painting on location in Seatoun and the Wellington coast in this illustrated talk.
'Pages in the Wind' – enjoying what’s on your doorstep with urban sketching Urban sketching can be a great way to experience a place, its history and people more deeply. All you need is a pencil, some paper – and a bulldog clip if you are sketching in Wellington! Next door in the hall we are bringing together some of the finest crafters and urban sketchers from around Wellington who not only display their heritage crafts and art work but will be working on their ongoing work. There will be an opportunity to try things for yourself and gain some tips from these experienced crafters and artists. Some of those in action will be embroidery, lacemaking, urban sketching and more. At the same time in the Village Hall there will be stalls selling a wide variety of good quality vintage and retro clothing, homewares and curios.
Tea and coffee and homemade baking will also be available to buy. Looking forward to seeing you.
Health & Safety
Both the church and the hall are well set up with both steps and ramps and rails for easier entry.
