Walk Wellington Heritage Tours

Wellington’s extensive 19th and 20th century heritage is one of the most fascinating of any place in New Zealand. Get to know about Wellington’s waterfront, downtown, courts and parliamentary areas in an easy walk of 2 to 2.5 hours duration. There is more to discover than most Wellington residents realise!

Start at Civic Square, then walk over City to Sea Bridge, walk down waterfront and turn left towards Wellington Museum. Walk to and through Old BNZ to Lambton Quay, then down Lambton Quay to Old Government Building. Cross to Parliament Precinct the possibly visit National Library exhibition and on to Old St Pauls to finish.

Location: This walk starts in Civic Square and terminates in the Old St Paul’s Cathedral in Mulgrave St Thorndon.

Cost: $10 each adult, $5 each child (6-16), under 5 (accompanied by adult) free. These are half normal rates.​

Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours

Walk Wellington

Walk Wellington is run co-operatively by a team of trained and experienced volunteer guides. Each guide has their own particular interests, for example local history, attractions, architecture, built and natural environment, and all are trained to give an absolutely, positively, fantastic general introduction to New Zealand’s Capital City. All guides are passionate Wellingtonians and love to have a chance to show off their home town.
